Lemoine, working under the stage name Woodkid, was born in Lyon, France, in 1983 and studied illustration and animation at Émile Cohl art school. He has lent that visual talent to artists like Lana Del Rey, Drake or Rihanna. Music too was always part of his artistic horizon as singer-songwriter and his first serious step in that direction was the EP Iron. The title track featured in several film trailers as well as the TV series Teen Wolf. His debut album, The Golden Age, was released in March 2013. In it, Woodkid used his childhood as raw material for a number of songs resulting in both public and critical acclaim. This work marries sophisticated electronic sounds and the artist’s vulnerable vocals perfectly. In 2016, his Golden Age video featuring Max Richter was nominated for a Grammy Award. That same year he wrote the music for Desierto, a film by Mexican director Jonás Cuarón. In 2019 he released the EP Woodkid for Nicolas Ghesquière - Louis Vuitton Works One. He continued to create and push his own limits releasing S16, his second album, in 2020. S16 is an exuberant set of songs that will stir the interest of the Portuguese audience at Super Bock Super Rock’s EDP stage on the 16th July.
