João Rodrigues, also known as Johnny Virtus was born in Miragaia in Oporto. In between the walls of his bedroom bathed in rhymes and permanently listening to national hip-hop, he quickly moved from the classical guitar to the beats. In 2008 he released his first EP “Introversos”. Four years later comes “UniVersos”, the first full-length album, released months before the instrumental album “Se Eu Fosse”. His influences are never ending and he is currently drenched in black music from head to toe. He has insomnias accompanied by Luiz Pacheco and Herberto Helder but he is usually rescued by Nas, Sam the Kid, Biggie Smalls, Tom Jobim, Vinícius or João Gilberto… Throughout his career, he has collaborated as an MC and producer in projects from several artists, some of them accomplices of his journey: Mundo Segundo (Dealema), Maze (DLM), Capicua, Berna, Serial (Mind da Gap), among others. His new album is coming up with an expected release for later this year. In the meantime, we can enjoy his single “Sono Profundo”.
