In spite of hostile circumstances and street life difficulties, rapper Jonathn Lyndale Kirk found refuge in music, which is where he focuses his energy. He started out as Baby Jesus to then change his name to DaBaby, as he is now known worldwide. His visceral performances, such as the one at South by Southwest in 2015, made his fame grow and gave him the confidence to launch “God’s Work Resurrected”, his first mixtape as DaBaby. Many others followed, such as “Dollar Baby”, “Baby Talk”, “Baby Talk 2, 3 e 4”, and “Blank Blank”. All the while, DaBaby was fine-tuning his artistic personality to bring about his debut album, released in 2019 and called Baby on Baby. His irreverence and charisma made it clear he was a promising talent in international rap. This was confirmed with the arrival of his second album, Kirk, also released in 2019. Tracks exuding energy such as “Suge”, “Intro” and “Bop” shot to the top of the charts. However, the buzz surrounding the name DaBaby was also due to collaborations with the likes of Chance the Rapper, Lizzo, Lil Nas X and Post Malone. Blame it on Baby is his third album, released in 2020, which consolidates DaBaby’s musical language and features Future, Roddy Ricch and Quavo, among many other hip-hop household names. This work is a series of effective songs, such as “Find My Way”, as well as ambitious ones, such as the one that gives the album its title, and that will be sure to enthral audiences at the next edition of Super Bock Super Rock 16 July on the Super Bock stage.
