Black Country, New Road is one of the most interesting bands in the current alternative music scene. Formed by Lewis Evans, May Kershaw, Charlie Wayne, Luke Mark, Isaac Wood, Tyler Hyde and Georgia Ellery, the band fills the stage wherever they go, literally… The band’s members bring a number of influences that create their very own Black Country, New Road sound, which includes jazz, rock, klezmer, spoken-word, post-punk and some other styles. Once they started performing at Windmill, in London’s Brixton, they quickly caused a stir thanks to the overwhelming energy of their performances. It took only two singles for the name Black Country, New Road to be recognisable to music lovers everywhere. The singles “Sunglasses” and “Athens, France” generated a wave of enthusiasm for those who believe in the future of rock music. Their debut album, For the First Time, met all expectations from the band. In 2022, their second album, Ants from Up There, landed, using a young adult’s angst as raw material for some memorable tracks. Apart from being one of the best albums of 2022, Ants from Up There seems to have become an instant classic, with potential to be enjoyed by scores of new fans in ten years’ time. Despite Isaac Wood’s departure from the ensemble, songs like "Chaos Space Marine", "Bread Song" or "Concorde" deserve to be celebrated, which is what will happen on 13th July 2023, on Super Bock Super Rock’s Stage 2.
